2017 Large Facilities Workshop

Held at the Laser Interferometer Gravitational-Wave Observatory (LIGO) in Livingston, LA, the 2017 Large Facilities Workshop gave attendees an opportunity to learn about NSF oversite changes, share best practices and discuss new initiatives in the Large Facilities Community. Attendees also were able to take an in-depth, behind-the-scenes tour of LIGO and watch the staff conduct routine maintenance on the Advanced LIGO detector and facility.

Why Attend a Workshop?

The Large Facilities Workshop is a collaborative forum for NSF’s Large Facilities community intended to provide participants with continuous learning and information sharing opportunities. Attendees are able to:

  • Share knowledge, experience and best practices with the Large Facilities community.
  • Discuss new initiatives.
  • Demonstrate project management, operations, and business-related tools and techniques.
  • Connect and network with colleagues from large complex scientific facilities.
