Director, Education and Community Engagement, UNAVCO
Dr. Donna Charlevoix is director of Education and Community Engagement for UNAVCO and the NSF-supported GAGE facility. The portfolio of work under her purview includes technical training for graduate students and researchers, curriculum development for K12 and higher education, internship programs for undergraduate and community college students, diversity and inclusion efforts, and all aspects of organizational communication and outreach. She holds a PhD in science education and a MS in atmospheric sciences. She worked for over a decade in academia as faculty after which she transitioned to work for non-profits that support federally-funded science facilities. She is actively involved in atmospheric science education research, co-authors university science textbooks, and serves in the leadership of the American Meteorological Society. She resides with her family in Colorado.
Education and Public Outreach (EPO) Best Practices and the Diversification Challenge
